The Quest For Renewable Energy

LAS VEGAS: The state of Nevada is now waging an earnest effort to shore up renewable energy, specifically solar energy. This is but right considering the high cost of fossil fuel and the substantial heat showered by the sun on this state. How hot is this state, or to be exact, Las Vegas? Well, Wednesday morning, it drizzled but the ground did not even get wet! Come summer, the temperature will rise to more than 110 degrees Celsius. Nevadans believe it is high time to convert the oppressive heat into a beneficial one.
Nevada’s efforts are not without stumbling blocks, however. It has been reported that the applications of several companies wanting to invest in solar energy in the state have barely moved in Washington, D.C. Some were filed more than two years ago. And to think that some potential ethanol investors in the Philippines are already worried sick that the Department of Energy still has to come out with guidelines for ethanol production! The DOE also still has to issue the implementing rules and regulations for the Renewable Energy Act, which was passed with much urgency because of the zooming prices of fossil fuel. Now that the price of oil has gone down and more or less stabilized, is that enough reason for the DOE to be taking things easy? Read more here: Inside Congress
